Member of Editorial Board
August Reinisch holds Master's degrees in philosophy (1990) and in law (1988) as well as a doctorate in law (1991) from the University of Vienna and an LL.M. (1989) from NYU Law School. He is admitted to the Bar of New York and Connecticut (since 1990). Since 1998 he has been professor of international and European law at the University of Vienna. From 2004 to 2006 he was Dean for International Relations of the University's Law School.
Since 2001 he serves as US-government appointed arbitrator on the In Rem Restitution Panel according to the Austrian General Settlement Fund Law 2001. Currently, he is also president of an UNCITRAL investment arbitration.
He is a regular visiting fellow at the University of New South Wales, Sydney (1999, 2000, 2002, 2005 and 2007) as well as visiting professor at Bocconi University, Milan (2003 and 2004). He also fulfils teaching assignments at the Austrian Diplomatic Academy in Vienna as well as at the Danube University in Krems.
His professional experience includes: Expert adviser in Austrian and foreign courts litigation as well as international arbitration; Member of the ILA Study Group on Accountability of International Organisations; Member of the ILA Committee on International Law of Foreign Investment; Member of the ILA Committee on International Law of Foreign Investment.
Dr. Peter Bachmayer, LL.M. (Harvard)
Peter Bachmayer is a research assistant to Prof. August Reinisch in the context of the project 'International Law in Domestic Courts'.
After graduating from the University of Vienna he has gained practical legal experience as a law clerk at various Austrian courts and as stagiaire in the European Commission. Additionally, he obtained a postgraduate LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School and finished his dissertation in the area of national and international copyright law in June 2013.
MMag. Ralph Janik, LL.M.
Ralph Janik is research assistant of Prof. August Reinisch in the project 'International Law in Domestic Courts'.
After finishing his studies, he has worked as research assistant at the University of Vienna's Section for International Law and International Relations and as assistant at the University of Amsterdam Faculty of Law, where he also obtained a postgraduate LL.M. degree. He is currently working on his dissertation in legal theory and international law.
Božana Lazić
Božana Lazić is an administrative assistant to Prof. August Reinisch in the context of the project International Law in Domestic Courts (Austrian Science Fund Project P 22451-G16) since April 2012.
Before joining her current work she was an executive assistant in an Austrian law firm. Her current work in the context of the project involves various administrative tasks, including the assistance with the organization of conferences and other events.
Mag. Gregor Novak (on leave as of 16 August 2012)
Gregor Novak was research assistant to Prof. August Reinisch in the context of the project International Law in Domestic Courts (Austrian Science Fund Project P 22451-G16).
Since graduating in law from the University of Vienna he has gained professional experience as a judicial clerk in Austrian courts, as a legal trainee in the dispute resolution practice group of an internationally operating law firm, as part-time research assistant and as a lecturer. Since September 2011, he is an Associate Editor of the Oxford Reports on International Law in Domestic Courts.
Mag. Jakob Wurm, EMLE
Jakob Wurm was research assistant to Prof. Dr. August Reinisch at the University of Vienna, Faculty of Law, Department of European, International and Comparative Law from January 2007 to July 2010.
In addition to his position as a national reporter for Austria since the inception of ILDC, he has been an ILDC Associate Editor from May 2005 to October 2010.
